Last day on the very high seas

Baja California Peninsula, Mexico
Last day at sea before ending our Panama Canal cruise in Los Angeles. The sea is not very kind to us at the moment with a swell of 2 to 3 metres with the lovely white capes. Weather the same as yesterday partly cloudy, cold wind, temperature of 210C and everyone virtually indoors.
In the early hours of the morning (the ship was really rocking and rolling) Coral Princess passed the bay of “Sebastian Vizcaino” continuing to navigate along the Coast of Baja California towards Los Angeles. Baja California is the 12th largest state by area in Mexico and its geography ranges from beaches to forests. The backbone of the state is the Sierra de Baja California, a mountain range which divides the weather patterns in the state. In the northwest the weather is semi-dry and Mediterranean while in the narrow center the weather becomes more humid due to the altitude.
Woke with a bit of a tingle in my throat, took a couple of Richard’s tablets he got for his sore throat (when in San Juan del Sur) but they made me squeamish for the best part of the day like it affected him. Helped the throat. We seem to go out on our balcony in the morning as do Red and Sharon, drinking our morning coffee Richard got from the Horizon Court.
Red and Sharon shouted us to a filtered cup of coffee using their Coffee Card, which we drank on the balcony saw a few cruise ships and other ships on the horizon but it is a bit cold and up on Deck 11 where we are you can feel the Coral Princess sailing through the 2 – 3 metre waves.
Started packing our suitcases, then went for a late breakfast like everyone else pity the Horizon Court is at the front of the ship you can really feel the rolling of the ship. For some punishment we went down to Deck 5 Bordeaux Dining Room where the “On-board Outlet Sale” was and as usual it was items from this and other cruises that hadn’t been sold. Bought two Isabella Couture bracelets similar to Pandora (one for Mandy) and a set of Panama Canal DVD’s then paid our Princess account including the Gratuity (tips for all the staff on board), which all passengers hate paying. Took some final photos as we walked around the decks.
Still not feeling the best, the head and body told me to take a break so decided to watch some TV before having a late lunch. Wish the ocean would calm down, as the constant rolling of the ship is making me ill. Decided to go down to Deck 7 to watch the 50th Anniversary Balloon Drop Party taking place in the Atrium on Deck 5 starting at 4.45pm. The three decks around the Atrium were packed with passengers watch others on the dance floor dancing joining the Cruise Director Susan Rawlings and crew for a journey through the Princess history to the sounds of the five piece band Solutions from 1965 to 2015 followed by the balloon drop filled with prizes. Everyone was singing to the music of the 50 years and went into a feeding frenzy when the gold balloons dropped, what a mess when it finished but before you knew it the mess was gone.
Had a quick meal in the Horizon Court, said our goodbyes to people we got to know on the cruise then 20 minutes before 6.45pm we raced to get a good seat in the Princess Theatre to listen to celebrated piano entertainer Stephen Kane (just caught his last two pieces the other night). No need to hurry everyone must be packing very few people there, he was interesting to listen to but no Liberace. Musical trivia guessing the themes of TV shows over the years was fun.
Decided to call it a night after desert at Horizon Court and packing took longer due to motion sickness getting me, the toilet and I became close friends. Bed was looking good, the large swell was a bit too much for me. Turned the watches back an hour for our arrival in Los Angeles tomorrow.
