Raining confined to motorhome

Gower Peninsula, Wales, United Kingdom
The storm never let up all night the wind across the Oxwich Bay rocked the motorhome so much we thought there was an earthquake it was that bad. At times we thought the motorhome was going to roll on its side with the force of the wind coming of the sea. You can't even see the ocean only the surf pounding on the shoreline and the misty outline of the coast across the bay a very cold wet, windy day.

Today was a wipe-out till late afternoon, waves of heavy rain and gusts of wind coming off the Ocean. A day confined to the motorhome as it would be dangerous on the winding roads to Mumbles Bay plus who would want to venture out in the rain to sightsee and get drowned. In a way today was a good rest day for the both of us, we are not getting any younger and the body does need to recuperate, Richard with all the driving and me falling off bikes. The shoulder is still quite painful and badly bruised, got to remember I am not twenty anymore.

With the free WIFI we were able to catch-up with all the news in OZ on FaceTime with Mandy and Gerard. With no TV or newspapers we only have the radio or internet to know what is going on in the world let alone Australia.

The weather cleared and the rain stopped so we ventured out on the trail through the woods, reminds us of walking through the forests in Canada to the beaches. A steep walk down the rocky part muddy trail over the sand dunes to a very long stretch of beach. The tide is out and just starting to come back in, a few people walking their dogs along the beach and water’s edge.

Walked towards the high cliffs where in the distance on top of the cliffs we can see the three Cliffs Caravan site where we were nearly going to stay but the very narrow lane entry turned us off. Feeling energetic and breathing in the fresh sea air we tuned round to walk the length of the beach to the inlet where the water was coming in but didn’t cross the bridge to the village of Oxwich but took the trail back to the farm caravan site through the sea marsh. A very enjoyable walk and it didn’t rain, so wishful thinking for tomorrow.

You never know what time it is here, as it is light by 5am and still light after 9pm at night. Evening meals seem to always be late.
