Rain, rain go away bring us a sunny day

Tenby, Wales, United Kingdom
Guess what its 5am and the gentle sound of rain on the skylights woke me and it looks like the drizzle has set in. Its great packing away wet power cords, doing the toilet cassette drop and grey water waste in the drizzling rain. All this makes us want to pack up and go home to our warm house curl up in front of the TV with a hot cup of coffee and not a care in the world, but we are in rainy Wales about to drive to Tenby.

Said our goodbyes to our next door neighbour Steve, who is going to email info on the freight line company that has room for 15 motorhomes on their cargo ships for less than the ferries crossing to Ireland. He saw we were down and tried to reinsure us that the weather is not usually like this in June.

Back tracked on the A4118 to Sketty (just before Swansea) didn't follow the Satnav directions as the road was too narrow. I thank god I have a large Map Book where I can follow the roads and we can now distinguish the different coloured roads. Mainly travelling through residential areas and small towns on the A4216 then A483, which connects to the M4 motorway.

Saw a nasty accident at a service station a vehicle took out one of the pumps, there were two fire brigade trucks and police there with lights flashing, plus earlier two ambulances and a police car were also in a hurry with lights flashing and sirens on. Don’t know if it was the same accident or a different due to the rain.

Can’t see much of the countryside due to the rain, very mountainous now on the A48 the road is cut through the rocks with bridges high up the sides of the mountains or very high granite like hills. Started to get scary from here with a thick sheet of fog can just see the red reflector lights of the car in front. Not nice driving through steep valleys when you can only see two cars distance in front of you.

So glad when we got closer to St Clears on the A40 the fog lifted and we only had to put up with the constant raining. So pleased to see a big shopping centre with a Tesco Express time for a rest and of course stock up the bar fridge which you cannot get much in so the constant four or so day stop at supermarkets.

On the A477 to Tenby and with visibility very poor we decide it best to find a caravan site to stay for the night and hopefully the weather improves tomorrow. I don’t know why all caravan sites have to be down tiny lanes, which Trefalun Park was. The site is quite large set within 11 acres and looks near full with motorhomes and caravans and is nestled in some of Pembrokeshire’s finest scenery, which we can’t see through the mist or so called fog. Looking around most of the caravans look as though they are permanent, no power hook-up.

Given up on the WIFI the internet connection is so slow, it would be nice to have a TV to watch right now but looks like a rest is in order.
