Looking out across the rooftops I see the same old weather we are used to, grey skies and probably overcast all day like yesterday. Time to pack our carryon bag, have our last buffet breakfast, walk across Trafalgar Square for the last time to Charing Cross Station and say goodbye to London, which we have thoroughly enjoyed these last three days.
So glad the trains run on time, a quick 30 minute ride to Chislehurst Station we didn’t bother ringing Margo to pick us up from the station as she had the gardener there at 11am. Her house is only ten or so minutes from the station and we enjoyed the walk and fresh air. Nice to be back in familiar territory, a quick unpack and chat while our last washing of clothes was being done.
Made a few phone calls to ship a large box of items we bought for the motorhome and decided to leave everything here the quote was a little too high, especially with Customs and Duty at the Australian end they know how to slug you.
Enjoyed our last late lunch/dinner at the Harvester Pub with Margo and Fred, Margo wasn’t too impressed when she went to pay the bill, I told you it was our treat and a thank you for letting us stay with them.
Margo was a gem and made a few calls to their local taxi companies for fare prices to Heathrow Airport for us and will book one tomorrow, as it takes about 1½hours to get to the airport from Bickley plus we need to be there three hours before the plane leaves. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow seeing our flight to Singapore leaves at 7.55pm, at least we will be able to sleep all the way on the 13 or so hour flight.
Today has flown quickly, time for a snack and cuppa before resting in front of the TV and retiring for the night as we are both a bit exhausted. I will need all my energy tomorrow to pack our suitcases, including the extra goodies we have bought.
