Seats on the A380 are not very comfortable to sleep on especially if there is a lot of air turbulence which we experienced. After freshening up it was time for breakfast, a cup of coffee and of course when you are eating there is always air turbulence.
With a good tailwind our flight was early and with few passengers getting off was quick. Once out of the plane the heat and humidity of Singapore hit you and it is a bit uncomfortable in winter clothes. There was extra security getting off the plane, our hand luggage was screened again before we joined the long queue to go through Customs and collect our suitcases.
Exchanged our UK and Euros for Singapore dollars, then waited for the Airport Shuttle to take us to the Peninsular Excelsior Hotel. Thank god for air-conditioning the heat and humidity outside the airport is a bit too much plus the shuttle driver is nearly as good as Margo speeding and darting through the traffic.
Travelling along the East Coast Parkway and seeing the Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay brought back memories of our Asia Cruise. The Peninsular Excelsior is central to the Raffles and Gardens by the Bay, pity Reception booked us into a room right next to a building construction site when I emailed for a quiet room. With a bit of honey persuasion we have a quiet room in their other Tower.
Ventured out into the humidity to the Food Hall next door for a meal then over to the Raffles Mall close by to the Supermarket for milk and cakes for dessert, then a shower and bed to sleep off the jetlag.
