The HorrendousTale Continues

Gan, Aquitaine, France
Last night was not a good night and today has not been much better, very, very stressful!

I'm getting quite good at emptying the loo tank, even in the dark. I must admit yesterday's Aire was nice and easy to use.

After neither of us having virtually no food - Mike because he couldn't eat anything and me because I didn't want any and no sleep we woke like zombies. Mike decided that he needed a doctor, I'd checked out Pages Jaunes on the internet and found one three minutes away. Off we set to find said doctor, me driving. Well, we went up tiny little single track village roads where no camper was ever meant to go, sharp turns and bollards everywhere, couldn't find said doctor's place. Asked in the Mairie and got the general direction but still missed the turn. I'm getting practice at reversing and manoeuvring the camper but not how I wanted it.

Eventually after much stress on both our parts we found the address - didn't look much like a doctor's surgery to us. I knocked on the door to ask and it turned out to be his home address and not his practice. The lady of the house gave me verbal directions, most of which I didn't understand. I asked her to write it down for me. She gave me a street name which our GPS couldn't find and so we made a decision to drive to GAN, N 43.236729 W 0.389960 which is a bigger place, and find a pharmacie - which we did.

After deep consultation with a very helpful pharmaciste, we came out with anti diahorrea medication, rehydration stuff, anti-inflamatory cream for his swollen foot and the very necessary paracetamol.

Back in Super U car park, I shopped, then Mike went in for things I'd forgotten. He was looking heaps better already. We then got onto our Camper Contact App for directions for the Aire.

This Aire is right outside a Cave (winery). It's basically a big car park with spaces earmarked for camping cars. We'd like to have stayed at last night's but we'd been there two nights and the maximum is 48 hours.

We've both had a good sleep to catch up and I, at least, have got rid of my pent up stress - a good howl and sleep works wonders.

Hopefully, Mike is on the mend as he now feels like eating and wants to continue into Spain tomorrow. After today's drive there's no way I want to do the twisty roads to the Somport Tunnel with lorries bearing down on me!

Oh! By the way, although we have had some dry spells today, the heavens have just opened once again. Happy Days! Tomorrow WILL be a good day!

So pleased you found someone to help Mike albeit after a horrendous drive to find someone. I hope your health and travels improve. A good cry does help Linda and there's nothing wrong with that after all the stress you've gone through. I've just said to Barry I'm pleased we had our maiden journey with you last year and not this year. Hoping that by the time we meet up later that you have both fully recovered
