Market Day

Los Alcazares, Murcia, Spain and Canary Islands
We'd been told about the big market held here (not here on site) on Saturdays so we thought we'd have a look-see. It's a big market, a piece of dual carriageway is closed off. Mike reckons it's about 400 meters and there were about eight rows of stalls. Mostly clothes, a couple with rugs and mats, the usual shoes and bags (got myself a nice little rucksack bag) only one with kitchen clobber, the usual fruit and veg stalls. What was surprising was that we only saw one selling fish.

After exhausting ourselves walking up and down the market we called in at K & C's coffee shop on the way home, we'd already met them in the market.

Back at the camper Mike set about making us bacon sarnies, then we realised we'd have no bread for tomorrow and worse still we could be IN DANGER OF RUNNING OUT OF THE RED STUFF!! That couldn't be allowed to happen and so, instead of being like all our Dutch and German neighbours, sitting out in the sun we had to get on our bikes and cycle to the supermarket for the much needed supplies. Fortunately, it wasn't far and it was flat - no electrics needed!

Sat out in the sun for a few minutes, this being spoilt only by the wind which is a bit chilly and were joined for a natter, coffee and wine by Ken & Carole.

Finished by having to cook up a whole load of chicken pieces in the pressure cooker, dinner tonight and maybe for a good few more nights I suspect.

We are now being serenaded by the usual chorus of dogs conversing with each other in the wastelands beyond the fence and the occasional plane either taking off or landing, we'renear to the Aeropuerto de Murcia-San Javier which is both a civilian and military airport.
