We woke to a nice sunny day, windy too but today not a cold wind . There's a little scruffy dog in the parking area, not sure if stray or dumped but a very kind English lady put some dog food down for it. Little doggy sniffed it and then lifted his leg and pissed on it! There, that's what I think of English cuisine! Another English man offered it some dry dog food - it sniffed that and walked away from it. Obviously not hungry enough to eat any old food. He wasn't bothering anybody for anything. I hate to see abandoned or stray dogs. When we left I noticed that the first English had left him the food and some water.

We walked along the road to the village, there were several bars but not much else but it was a nice walk with bracing sea air.

Before leaving we did the usual stuff with water & waste. It said on the blurb that fresh water was 0.10€ for 10 litres, 0.20€ for 20 and so on up to 100 litres. Above the tap was a slot for the money. Mike found that the tap worked without money but he put his 0 .20€ in after he'd had the 20 litres we needed. Must have been an 'honesty' box. I wonder how many people actually paid for their water.

We've travelled most of the way today on the A-7 motorway (no tolls), bypassing Aguillas and finishing up here in San José after following a sign for the Mercadona supermarket and going miles in the other direction. After leaving the A-7 and turning on to the AL-3108 we could have been in Morocco apart from the fact that the road surface was better - all plastic and shanty dwellings.

We did have one bad, bone shaking section of A-7 where the road surface was more overbanding than actual tarmac.

We are in the Parque Natural Cabo de Gata Nijar. Andalucía and to get here we've driven through the plastic area again.

This parking is a sandy, gravelly car park and at the moment there are about 30 vans. It's free, there are no facilities and you wouldn't want to be here on Saturdays - market day.

Tomorrow, we'll explore and find the shore.

We stayed at Almerimar Porto with Sheila and Barry last year, up by the lighthouse but I think if we go there this time we'll use the aire.
