Dog Sitting Day

Torre de Benagalbón, Andalucía, Spain and Canary Islands
Sunshine, super sunshine was the order of the day today and yipee! I got to use my new travel hairdryer and my new slimline straighteners as well as the kettle - that's 'cos we've got electric hook up for the first time this holiday!

After spending two hours or more with rubbish wifi trying to send my grandson and son-in-law Amazon vouchers - can you imagine it taking that long to sent two poxy vouchers (I'd given up totally on the idea of sending cards), we sat out to soak up a few rays but Mike soaked up a few sprays!

Unfortunately we're near the 'ablutions' area, well next to it actually and it seems to have been motorhome washing day. He got a bit of spray from the hose from an English couple who were washing their van and they did have the grace to come and apologise later. After that it was a French couple with a Fourgon (a professional van conversion). They spent hours washing this thing, not sure how many times Mike got sprayed but in the end he had to have a word.

Eventually we moved our chairs to the back of the van. We got chatting to a Dutchman whose van it at a right-angle to ours. His wife has been in hospital in Malaga for six days so far. They don't know what's wrong with her at the moment. He was going to cycle there to visit her this afternoon and was about to shut his dog in the camper while he was out.

We told him that we weren't going out anywhere (it being a fĂȘte day) and he could leave the dog outside with us if he wanted to which he did. So for several hours we had the company of a lovely little Sheltie called Barney. He disappeared once when I wasn't looking so there I was running around the vans near us calling for him, Mike looked underneath Barnie's van and there he was, lying there. He spent some time with us and some on his own patch. His owner told us when he got back that when he's had to leave him the last couple of days, he's had all the cushions on the floor.

I had told Barney that it was better that he stayed with us than was shut in the camper and even better that he was not taken to Malaga in a basket on the back of the bike 'cos we know what happens then, don't we Mr D!

Barney's 'dad' came back from the hospital hoping to have got some info on his wife but, because it was a fĂȘte day in Andalucia there was no-one around, not even a receptionist let alone a doctor so he's none the wiser!
