N36.15843 W5.33890 - LA LÍNEA DE LA CONCEPCIÓN - PARKING FOR FOOTBALL STADIUM - 4€ per night.

This morning the GNR (Guardia Nationale) came by, no problems . I was just getting ready for a shower when Mike told me to get a shift on as we had to move! The Civil Police had been around and told two sets of our English neighbours that we had to move and go to the campsite. Apparently they didn't knock on our door because 'they thought we were asleep'!

We can only assume that the guy who was moaning about us last night was something to do with the campsite and had phoned the Civil Police and complained.

It wasn't a problem as we'd intended to leave anyway but it was annoying nonetheless. Even stranger was the fact that on Friday, the two English couples that were spoken to had parked in the other car park and the GNR had told them to move to where we were! No-one was contravening any rules or causing a nuisance. We'd had two very nice meals in two different restaurants very close by and the others had been in bars and shops spending their money.

Hey ho! Apparently a lot of problems for campers and camping car aires are caused by campsite owners and the sites are generally pretty full anyway .

We left and went to Casares up into the mountains, there is parking there and facilities for emptying and taking on water by the tourist office. We met up with Pam, Dave, Anita and Paul who'd left Castillo de la Duquesa before us this morning. Walked up to the viewing area to see, what in the Aires of Spain & Portugal book says are Vultures flying but to us they looked like the Buzzards we get but maybe a bit bigger. They certainly flew like Buzzards. The book says that they tend to be flying around between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm and they certainly were - loads of them. Unfortunately too high to get photographs.

Casares sits across a small valley reached by a twisty road and looking at it from the viewing point it's lovely - all white houses nestling on the mountainside.

We all had lunch at the same time and the others said they were going to walk to the village, did we want to go with them . We declined as we wanted to get water and get further up the coast. They're headed in the same general direction as us so we may well bump into them again.

I'm sitting here in the football stadium car park at La Línea de la Concepción looking out to sea at a full moon shining on the ocean. Underneath and just coming into the silvery light are the bright headlights of an aeroplane coming into land at Gibraltar. Beneath the lights of the aircraft are those of the many container ships drifting around at anchor waiting to get into port for their freight. On the horizon I can just make out the lights of another ship, I wonder where it's bound for if it's on it's way out, or where it's coming from if on the way in. Across the road from us is the beach and to the right, looking slightly ghostly in the light is the sheer, grey face of the Rock of Gibraltar.
