Coventry's two cathedrals

Coventry, England, United Kingdom
Took a day trip on the train to Coventry to visit the two cathedrals - the ruin of the old one bombed on 14 November 1940, and the new one consecrated in May 1962. The decision was made to build the new one built alongside the ruin, rather than rebuild the original. The design was by Basil Spence and Graham Sutherland designed the tapestry at the east end.
The weather wasn't very kind the day I visited, and I had to keep dodging in and out of the rain, but the trip was well worth the effort . The sight of the two cathedrals together is really very moving.

Liverpool also has two Liz. Hope the rain didn't spoil it for you. We have icy cold winds here in Liverpool. Enjoy.

This brings back lots of memories as I lived in Rugby for several years as a child and we often used to visit Coventry and the cathedral. Hope you're enjoying your holiday.
