Day 208 The day of the show! I said that like WE were performing lol. Last night we slept in a place without a toilet, so when 7 am rolled around and we had to go, well we had to go. We hopped in the front seat of the bedroom and started driving. Turned down a street and seen a lot of commotion. We pulled in to ask about a toilet and found ourselves in the middle of a "boot sale". It was a fundraiser for the local SES (Special Emergency Services). We got coffees and walked around checking out all the junk. Here the trunk of a car is usually referred to tha "boot" so this was like a yard sale or swap meet for Americans. Oh and they had toilets so that was good. We headed abck to the CBD as we had a market to explore. It wasn't the usual art and craft vendors however it was almost just fruit and veg. We got some good deals on scallions and watermelon, which we haven't had in months as it is $4 / kg in the grocery stores, yep ridiculous!
After we put away the fruit and veg it was time to head down to the Esplanade and the lagoon. You guessed it almost every city and town seems to have one. This one is pretty big with tons of BBQs. Lo and behold another market this one, no fruit, no veg, just arts and crafts. There was also a rubber duckie race fundraiser for the local rotary club, so bought a duck and waited till the race, chilling by the lagoon. Around three o'clock they let the ducks loose! There was supposedly 4000 ducks racing for numerous trips and other prizes. Duck number 2591 however did not collect a prize.
After changing back at the van we were on the way back to the Jack. We ended up being quite early for the show, so we had dinner while watching the crew do the sound checks. For concert standards the show started early, just a bit after seven the first act was ready to rock. The place wasn't even busy yet. As the night wore on and it was closer to the headliner Illy the place started to pick up, by the time he came out it was nice and busy, a very good atmosphere. He put on a good show, really got the crowd jumping.
