Day 210 Today was an off day so to speak. After securing a site in a "Tourist park" (use the term 'park' lightly) for the night, we were back on route to the CBD and lagoon. The trailer park was nicely stated a dive, kind of a you get what you pay for deal. Lucky for us we only spent one night there and in OUR van and not something they took care of as we'd guess it be a little run down. We spent some time at the lagoon, did some groceries and went back to the trailerhood to make dinner. We picked up all the ingredients to make a casserole. Once back at the park we took to the kitchen to make it but there was no stove, only an outdoor electric BBQ. We had no choice and made the casserole on there. Turned out pretty good.
The next morning we were all ready to go on the Skyrail till we looked for the address and seen, we needed to make a booking. Called them up and to find out that today is maintenance day. Happens every year, ONCE, LOL! We booked a spot for the next day. Our schedule now open the only sensible thing to do was go back to the lagoon and relax by the water. On the way we dropped in at a travel agents to look at reef tours. Found a good deal and booked it for Wednesday. Upon leaving the booking agent we noticed the sidewalk was pretty filthy with what looked like bird droppings. Really dirty. Out of curiosity we looked up and saw it wasn't birds, but hundreds and hundreds of bats. Fruit bats to be exact, also known as Spectacled Flying Foxes because of the whitish brown mane they have. Every night at dusk hundreds sometimes thousands fill the sky outside the library as they take off in search of nectar their food of choice. That was our lazy day but now had two exciting days ahead...
