Tons Of Work

Day 272 The second week at work proved to be a killer. We almost doubled the hours worked from the week before as we were there for 66 hours of our lives. On Wednesday we put in a healthy 15 hours and pumped out a whopping 144 tons of mangoes. We believe it was the biggest day they ever had or second for sure, nobody was really coherent at the brief end of shift meeting. The workforce has dwindled a bit as five people threw in the towel. We have been starting at 7 in the morning all week and we got off early Thursday at 8pm so we could go into town to do groceries. When we hit Woolies the only grocery store in town, half the pack shed was there shopping so it was like work but with air conditioning, ha ha. While at the grocery store we managed to take in four fights. This seems to be a regular occurrence around these ways. Seems some Aboriginals have a hard time dealing with alcohol, sad but true. As for us instead of the old alcohol we have been consuming about 4 liters of water a shift as it's been 38 degrees plus here on a regular basis. I've been getting along great with my partner at work, coming from Paris, Jay-Jay seems to be a swell guy and luckily (because my French is brutal) he speaks pretty good English. We seem to have lucked out and got one of the better jobs in the place. Jenn is also having a good time on the pack line as she gets to socialize with different people through out the day. This somewhat makes up for the crappy monotonous work and the long hours...oh and the fact its only 3 more weeks, then BALI!

Hey folks,
what should I say, congratulations or I'm sorry? I think there is the time in Oz when it's all about money. So I'm glad you can work and save a lot and go on travelling. I am back at home, studying.
Hope you will have some more kick-ass adventures, all the best,
Steven
