Port Alberni - Gateway to the Pacific Rim

Having written last years blog,

Victoria: Blog No. 6 - Port Alberni - Gateway to the Pacific
(26 photos),

I was eager to show Glenn and Dianna the nicest part of the town - the beautiful port. This is where the MV Lady Rose and the MV Francis Barkley are docked and where the "Indian candy" is a delicious morsel that can be tasted at the local fish monger called the "Cod Father".

A huge sum of money has been spent by the federal government to make the port area the jewel of Port Alberni.

Unfortuantely the Cod Father was closed by the time we got there, shortly after 18:00. Instead, we settled for some donuts at a place by the port that promised "the best donuts on Vancouver Island". We should have gone to Tim Hortons as we had origianally planned.

Shortly we were back on the road again as we still had a good two and a half hour drive to Ucluelet along a winding road.
