School Movie Day

Daegu, South Korea
Wednesday all classes were cancelled for 'school activity day'. Not sure what this is but we've had it before and nothing happens, so I was just in the teachers room preparing for summer camp. At lunch in the cafeteria a teacher asked me if I'd like to see Kung Fu Panda and some of the other teachers were going.

I assumed after school, even though its not a movie I would watch, so I said yes to be social . Then I was told to be in the parking lot at 12.50! So I had to finish lunch, finish up in the staffroom, and head down.

All the students were lining up and leaving with their homeroom teacher. So I wondered if all the students were going to the theatre? Half of them were, half of them were being loaded into buses. I was told one group was going to Dalseong Park and a city tour, the rest to the movie theatre.

So I tag along with a class for the 10 min walk to the theatre wondering why there was a mass conspiracy not to tell me about the afternoon field trip? Turns out they only decided this morning so nobody knew about it. Apparently they have money left over in the clubs budget to pay for this. The money is given by the government so they have to spend it.

We had a private theatre showing just for the school. Everyone got free popcorn too. I was tired so I ended up dozing off for most of the movie. When it finished after 3 all the kids went home and so did the teachers, so they said I could go home... no after school teachers class.. cancelled again! (I've only ever had one teachers class this term, they keep getting cancelled)

I'd already been to the same theatre saturday with a teacher to see X-Men First Class. Tomorrow Green Lantern is opening so i'll probably be back again. Free movie, popcorn, home early... All in all another productive day at school.
