Brunei Iftar Buffet

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

As I was leaving the large Mosque near the hotel it started pouring with heavy rain and I wanted to get something to eat as it neared 6.45pm and the end of the daily fast. There were some restaurants behind the hotel so I went there to see what prices were and what was available.

One had an Iftar buffet for $5BND ($4). 'Iftar' is the dinner at the end of the fast. Unfortunately they said they were sold out and they cant serve me. They said to try the restaurant opposite which looked more expensive.

I asked in there and they said they also had no room. Then they came back and said ok. I didn't know how much this place was but I didn't want to go looking somewhere else for food in the rain and I was tired.

Their price was $8BND ($6.50). I had rice, chicken curry, noodles, beef curry, and green beans.
They also had this pink milk drink with floating jello which we have in Pakistani (faluda) but I didn't try it.

What I thought was fruit juice also had strange flavours they have in Pakistan. The red drink that I thought was fruit was in fact rose petal flavoured.

It was nice to get some food and try some local cuisine but it later gave me stomach problems for the rest of the next day.
