I made it to the Hindi Temples but they appeared to be closed until 5pm. There were lots of jewellery stores and in one area hand painting henna for tourists.
I saw some mithai (indian sweets) which originally I was going to pass over. But then I saw two more vendors and it was too much temptation to pass up. I havent eaten it since Aug 2012 when I was back home.
I tried the pista barfi and double ringed jalebi which came to $1.70SGD ($1.35) for a single piece of each. The jalebi was nice but the barfi was too buttery and not how its normally made
There was a lot of construction by the river and it threw me on a different course so I was seeing something new from 2008. There was a long outdoor market area stretching a few blocks and something I hadnt seen in 2008.
One vendor was selling ice cream sandwiches in wafers for $1SGD (.80 cents). I tried a durian flavoured one.
I passed by more Hindi, Buddhist, and even Jewish places of worship but they were mostly closed and not open to the public.
