Edmonton Oilers Game

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Wednesday was another full day of five broker meetings from breakfast to early evening. As this was our only free night during the trip the two other people on the trip had wanted to go see an Edmonton Oilers ice hockey game.
There is a new arena built in downtown Edmonton they wanted to see. Also the line up of players had a rare alignment of Sydney Crosby against someone else good. I'm not a hockey fan so this line up didnt get me excited though I was curious to goto a hockey game.
They were watching the ticket prices and willing to goto $200 USD. That was way too much for me since I'm not really a fan. I said if they can get for below $100 CDN I will go or they can go without me.
Thursday morning some of the ticket prices had gone down and they were able to find a block of three seats in my price range. We waited till after lunch to see if they would drop further and we decided to just go ahead and book them. So it cost me $78 Cdn.
We cut short our last broker drinks and social event to get to the stadium for 6.30pm start. We timed it perfect as by the time we got there and went thru security to our seats the game was just starting with both anthems.
The Edmonton Oilers were playing the Washington Redskins. Most local fans came in team t-shirts and we were the only ones not dressed up.
The Oilers led most of the game 2-1. In the second half the Redskins scored evening the score to 2-2. In the final quarter they scored again making it 3-2. The Oilers were not able to pull it back as the clock ran out.
The fans left downbeat at a home loss but it was a fun evening out since we had not really any personal time during the trip. People from small towns claim there is nothing to do so they take their sports very seriously, although I think there is more to do in Edmonton.
