Odessa, Ukraine

I was up at 2am again so watching retro Russian cinema in mute till 4am. I remember these from St Petersburg and they made some good comedy movies. I left at 8am to head to the market area just west of the town centre.

There are old historic buildings and as I was walking the side of one just collapsed onto the street so you have to watch your step.

The market had some meats in the indoor hall but no breads or cheeses for breakfast. Outdoors was a typical bazaar with fruits and flowers. I found a bakery and got a fresh made apple strudel for 19 UH (.95 cents).

Back by the Opera House there was a morning film shoot taking place. It was interesting watching all the extras in costume move thru their paces then rewind back to retake the shot which was only for about a minute length.

I wanted to goto the wax museum but it didnt open till 10am and it was only 9am. I found a buffet breakfast place to kill time and get some food. They weigh the items and it cost 63 UH ($3). After that I checked out from my hotel and got my bags.

The was museum was 50 UH ($2.50). I remember the one in St Petersburg I didnt pay to go in. This one was only a couple of rooms and had historic as well as movie characters and hollywood celebrities.

Heading to the train station for my flight out I was going to walk to Holy Archangel Michael Convent. It was a bit of a walk and the older security guard gave me a look of "what the f*!" and utter disgust as I walked up with my bags. He said "dobro" (hello) so I replied back and carried on walking.

The complex was confusing as there were many buildings, some were housing dorms, so I didnt want to start walking into buildings as this isnt really a tourist site. I just walked around the grounds and headed out.

Back by the station is a large church I had passed on my arrival. The interior is impressive and remarkable this is not on any tourist map.
