For my final evening I'd planned on doing some biking around the city. The tour to Peggy's Cove got me back to the city by 430pm and I'd already found the bike rental place previously that said they were open to 8pm.
The bike rental place is in a shipping container on the waterfront near the tourist office so just ask people or in the tourist office as I did. This seems to be the only bike rental place that I was able to find.
Heading along the waterfront first I came to the Sea Bridge. This is actually a floating walkway so I had to walk my bike across as it was crowded and wobbly.
Nearby was the ferry terminal. The crossing to Dartmouth is $3.50 cash only. They also had bike racks on the ferry. This is similar to when I went biking in Vancouver and took the Sea Bus which also had bike racks. See blog entry http://v2.travelark.org/travel-blog-entry/londone7/38/1502140251
On the Dartmouth side there didnt seem to be much to see or do. I was going to circle back to the MacDonald bridge to do the crossing back.
It was a short uphill ride to the left to get to the bridge entrance. The bus from the airport had already come here allowing me a preview of where the bike lane was.
I'd done the same Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver. That one was really freaky as it double in height and length and I was the only one on the bridge at the time. This wasnt as bad but still a bit shaky at times with my height anxieties.
On the other side the road layout was a bit messy trying to get the couple of blocks back to the centre. There are two sets of historic properties on the waterfront.
A block up away from the waterfront they had a bike lane thru the city. I followed this for a bit completing my loop back to where I had begun.
