After taking Oslo Metro Line 1 to the end Frognerseteren at the top of the mountain we were now going to bike our way down (see entry on TheMetroBlog - http://v2.travelark.org/travel-blog-entry/londone7/46/1578008050)
Just outside the station was a timber restaurant dated from 1880. It was quite fancy with views overlooking the city and fjords but i'm sure it would have been pricey so we decided to move on.
It was also quite chilly at this high elevation. Although the views were nice I was looking forward to being at the warmer ground levels.
Next we went to the Holmenbakken ski jump which is a landmark visible across the city. Many cross country skiers were making their way around on a paved track making this a year round sport with no snow.
Further down admiring the grand homes overlooking the fjords and city I noticed I forgot my helmet somewhere. I didnt know what a replacement cost in Norway so I wanted to go back and find it. However my friend didnt come with me and I couldnt navigate all the criss cross winding streets going back up.
I made it to one restaurant where we stopped but there was no helmet. I had left it further up at the Holmenbakken ski jump but I didnt want to retrace uphill all the way back to find it and wasnt sure of the route.
After coming down thru forest trails we made our way to the Frogner Statue Park. This is famous landmark I never came to on my last two visits as its just outside the city centre and you would need to come by bus.
The architecture was very sexual and could be considered child porn as well with some of the positioning with adults.
Continuing on thru wealthy neighbourhoods we made our way to the Royal Palace which I visited both times in 2003 and 2015.
We then made our way to the Aker Brygge waterfront area. I came in 2003 when it was pouring with rain but today we had nice weather.
Then past the Oslo Castle to the Opera House. It was very busy with people both at the Opera House and Aker Brygge so difficult to bike there.
Finally when we returned the bikes I was worried I would have to pay for a helmet and how much in Norway prices. She was very nice about it and said it happens all the time and not to worry.
