Leaving the Crystal Caves we were going to walk across the causeway to the airport. There was no sidewalk on the causeway so it was tricky walking in traffic and trying to be careful taking pics and selfies so as not to get murdered on the road on our way out.
There were no other pedestrians but fortunately the drivers slowed and swerved as we allowed them to pass by.
I expected a mid week flight to be empty but it was full as lots of people were leaving the carnival which we had no idea was going to be taking place and no time to visit.
The flight path was east towards Europe on take off so nothing to see of the island although it circled back over corals. Our approach over the continent took us over Atlantic City and Philadelphia when I later matched photos on google satellite images.
On our northbound path we came up the Welland Canal to Niagara on the Lake but at an angle so we didnt see Niagara Falls. We then crossed Lake Ontario to Humber Bay where I normally see planes heading to the airport.
Instead of continuing north to the airport he went east over downtown Toronto. I joked he was lost and didnt know where the airport was. We had very good views of downtown Toronto and the island.
He then circled north around the city and came back along Highway 7, the normal east-west route for flights from Europe.
On arrival at Pearson is a whole other story. The new electronic kiosks have brought the airport to a standstill. There was only one agent on duty at the 'express line' which snaked three times thru the hall. We crawled under the ropes on all fours to the other line with four agents.
I have an ongoing letter with my local MP who provides absolutely useless service. Anyway the trip to Bermuda was nice, if not planned or budged for, and I'm glad my friend talked me into it or I wouldnt have gone.
