Having finished biking next I was to goto Chapultepec Castle at the western end of Paseo de la Reforma. I was expecting to start biking from Zocalo and taking the metro over when I finished but as I started mid way down Reforma I just continued walking to the castle.
There were huge crowds and I hoped there wouldnt be long lines to get in. You had to go thru a security check where they removed food items or had you goto lockers, but drinks were ok.
You had to climb uphill to get to the castle and entrance was free today hence the crowds. Inside it was very humid with the afternoon heat and all the people
This is a European Palace transported to Mexico and not something I would have expected. It would have been nicer without the crowds to see it properly as some sections I just had to come out.
There were different wings and not really clear instructions on how to get around.
On the upper level you could goto the outer terrace to cool down and get away from the crowds. It overlooked down Paseo de la Reforma.
From the outer terrace you could look back into the upper floor formal rooms which were all roped off.
Finally the most famous feature is the stained glass corridor. Again it was very crowded so hard to get a good shot.
I dont know how well known this Castle is to western tourists but its worth a visit and added bonus it was free today.
