Evening in St Pierre, Territory of France

Saint-Pierre, Saint-Pierre, Saint Pierre and Miquelon
Having just arrived by ferry to St Pierre from Canada I only had this evening and next morning to explore before a 2pm flight back to Canada. The islands which belong to France are just off the coast of Canada so it is a short 90 min ferry ride though there is usually one daily at 430pm so I'd already lost most of the day.
Luckily the hotel van was waiting at the port to pickup other guests. I had planned on walking and taking photos but I was lucky he met me as he said they close the reception at 7pm.
The room was very nice though expensive for a small island in tourist season. It would have been nice to stay longer. I had to rush out to explore before sunset.
Two blocks to the west is the panorama viewing point. Originally I thought of coming for sunset but decided to go first as I might be too tired to walk back or not time it right.
From the panorama point were good clear views of all the island. The weather was perfect for photos. You could see Ile aux Marins across the sea I would visit tomorrow. It's a big sized town and reminded me of Reykavik Iceland with similar layout.
There were a couple more viewing points I had to navigate to on the street map. First was Le Fort Lorraine. This wasnt as good as it was oriented away from the town so you saw the outer parts of the island. Nearby Le Calvaire with the big cross similarly did not have good views of the town centre. The homes were more like small towns in Scandinavia I'd been to.
Making my way down to the waterfront was Le Square Joffre used for gathering and festivals. I could hear bells ringing and wanted to see the Cathedral but it was locked. I could also hear traditional singing on speakers, I didnt know if somebody had the radio on loud or there was dancing in the community hall.
Wandering thru the small town centre I found a restaurant where there was a live band who had been singing. Back on the waterfront were the canons and a lighthouse.
I wanted to eat and didnt see a single shop to buy a drink or snacks. Lucky I had my own. Restaurants need to be booked weeks in advance before your arrival but I planned on eating out.
The town is small and you can do it all on foot in a couple of hours. I made my way back to my hotel to rest. I had to be up for my half day left to explore before flying out.
They have tv channels direct from France in the hotel. I was watching some period dramas.
