Suzdal Abandoned Orthodox Churches

Suzdalsky District, Vladimir Oblast, Russian Federation
Having arrived in Suzdal yesterday evening we had checked into the guesthouse that Tony had arranged. He brings guests here regularly so gets discounted pricing of 2000 Rub ($40 Cad). It was actually quite a nice traditional home and I had a nice room to sleep in after my erratic sleeping last few days with sleeper trains and arrival in Moscow.
In the morning the rain was still coming down lightly but was expected to clear out slowly. We left around 10am and were going to drive outside of town to some abandoned churches.
First we drove to an old Governer's residence. This is now a museum with 150 Rub entry ($3 Cad). It had impressive ceiling art which I dont think was original.
It was telling the story of Adam and Eve. The exhibits also told of the many historical towns and churches in the region.
We then drove to an impressive abandoned church. During Soviet times these were all closed down and just used by locals for storing farm equipment or produce. In post Soviet times people do not have money to restore all the churches and are not as religious.
After we drove to a second church. This one had no road access and we had to drive around a village figuring how to navigate thru the fields to get here. The winds were picking up so I didnt walk inside though looking back perhaps it would have been good for pictures.
