Blackpool's Iconic Waterfront and Pier

Blackpool, England, United Kingdom
This evenings stop after Liverpool was Blackpool. This was somewhere I never came during my childhood and is famous for its tower and lights.
We were taking the 15.39 from Liverpool to Blackpool North arriving 16.57. This was a direct train vs the ones that needed a change at Preston.
We dumped our bags at the hotel which was a short walk. It was confusing finding a hotel as almost every home is a hotel so there were too many listings. I think we found a good one in terms of quality, price, location.
I expected it to be chilly in the evening and there were some rowdy party goers for a Friday night on the train arriving.
Before going to the waterfront I wanted to see some of the town. There is a sprawling theatre complex comprising of the Winter Gardens, Palais Royale, and Opera House. Close by is the Grand Theatre.
Making our way to the waterfront the historic trams had been replaced by modern sleek single level trains. Blackpool does not have one but three piers built at the height of Victorian popularity.
It was still light and I was waiting for the waterfront lights to come on so we went on the pier. This was free unlike some other seasides that charge admission
It was also getting chilly so we went into the amusement arcades to keep warm. We used to spend our childhood at these seaside arcades.
I asked one of the staff when the lights would be coming on. He advised it was not for a few more months due to electrical work. Tired after a long day from Chester to Liverpool we went back the hotel to rest.
