Tynwald Hill former Viking Parliament

Tynwald Hill, German
I was learning Manx history which we had no idea about despite being a stones throw from the UK. The Isle of Man was a Viking Kingdom that was part of Norway for a period. Similar to the Allting in Iceland, they had their own outdoor Parliament for an annual gathering.
Tynwall Hill is inland on the bus route connecting Douglas to Peel, our next stop. There was a morning bus at 9.07. My friend had fortunately picked up and researched the bus schedules from the tourist office yesterday.
I had my tourist day pass so was good for unlimited travel today. We sat on the top of a double decker bus which was empty on a Sunday morning. It was a great way to tour and see the inland from this vantage point
It was a very island culture with small hamlets and farms. It was also very scenic in spring weather.
The site of Tynwald is very easy to explore and right by the bus stop. We had to time 30 mins between the next bus.
There is a replica Manx cross. The actual ones are hard to reach by bus unless you have your own car. My friend has suggested renting a car but I wanted to experience the historic trains which we would do today. Nor do I have an international Drivers Licence at the moment.
There is also one of the old standing stones and a church which I didnt have time to go in.
