Next leg I would be leaving the Isle of Man and heading on to Northern Ireland. I had hoped to take a ferry but they only run in the summer months. Rest of the year the only ferry access is back to England, not to Dublin or Belfast.
There is an Easyjet flight that goes from Ronaldsway, the only airport on the Isle of Man, to Belfast. The flight is only three times a week so I had to plan my trip around.
Ronaldsway Airport is about a 30 min walk from Castletown. It is easy as there is only one road heading out. It looked closer on a map and would have taken just as long waiting for a bus.
As I like to do seat selection and travel on one large carry on bag instead of checked luggage I went for the priority boarding option. For an extra fare you can bring one large carry on, have free seat selection, and have priority boarding.
The flight is only 25 mins but I didnt want any issues bringing my large carry on bag. The six seats in my row were all empty except for me. Everyone had chosen general boarding.
It is always a challenge to plan where to sit for best views. I wasnt sure if we would fly north over Douglas or cut west across the island. I think I saw Douglas but it was too quick to realize as the plane kept turning sideways to turn. Also I think I saw Peel on the west coast as we were heading to sea.
I was lucky with my view of Belfast. We had perfect clear weather and I made out the geography from my planning on google maps. Again it was too fast to recognize landmarks in a town I havent visited yet.
Belfast International airport is further west away from the city.
