Nafplion, Greece
Our ship takes us north from the Aegean Sea into the Peloponnese peninsula to the coastal city of Nafplion. Here you will find numerous acropolis fortifications dating back some 3500 years. The most famous is that of Mycenae and the King Agamemnon who played a large role in the Trojan Wars. We see the ancient ruins of the fortified city, the cisterns, walls, foundations and the museum followed by the bee hive tomb of the King. We motor across to a winery and are shown the wine process, then many wine samples with snacks.   Nafplion is a sea side resort, quiet and pleasant with modern tourist facilities, great Greek food and fantastic beaches. It is located 2 hours across the Corinth canal from Athens and is a definite return destination. What a great way to spend the day.
