Costa Maya, Mexico
We have been many times to the Yucatan Peninsula but only recently became aware of Costa Maya

It is a purpose built cruise port constructed with local funds and cruise ship money. The water here is 90 feet deep hence the reason it is so far from Playa del Carmen (200 km). There is the tourist port with its shops, bars and swimming pool and not too far away are quaint Mayan villages. Our trip today will take us to a Mayan temple and the history behind the temple. The girls take the opportunity to climb the ruin. It is believed that this temple is dedicated to the god of fertility such as found on Cozumel. We next go to a private home and have an underground bake lunch with chicken tachitos. We are given a tour of the home, the kitchen, washing and living quarters. Next door is a school.

A 45 minute back to the Port and a couple initial rings are acquired then guess were – back to the waterslides.
