Finally, home on Thursday, September 23rd! We drove through four states arriving in Blue Ash. We’re home and glad to sleep in our own bed.
Did you know that we traveled through 12 states and found the 50 different state license plates?
So, on the way home, Dick and I talked about our list of BESTs! So, here they are:
BEST BREAKFAST - Oscar’s Cafe in Springdale, UT near Zion, Iowa 80 Truck Stop on I-80 west of Davenport
BEST DINNER - Dulivia’s in Springdale, UT near Zion (except wine by the glass list is VERY limited-by the bottle was good), The Current in Salt Lake City, Farm Bistro in Cortez, CO near Mesa Verde
BEST DIVE BAR - Booches in Columbia, MO
MOST INVENTIVE AT HOME DINNER - Freezer Party (empty the freezer and make dinner from these items) and light dinner with a charcuterie board
BEST (MOST) UNUSUAL FOOD - delicious Elk burger at Zion Brewery, in Springdale, UT, near Zion; didn’t order the Yak at the Farm Bistro in Cortez, CO
BEST VIEW FROM A RESTAURANT - Dulivia’s outdoor patio eating dinner, in Springdale, UT viewing the mountains outside Zion
BEST LIQUOR STORE IN CHEYENNE, WY - Town and Country Supermarket Liquors - Yes, folks, there is a story behind this.
BEST HOTEL - Drury Plaza in Columbia, MO, very nice room and included nice hot breakfast and continental dinner with 3 drinks
BEST FAMILY TIME - watching and spending time with our grandchildren, Hadley and Colin, and, of course, time with their parents and our daughter and husband, Kim and Alex
BEST NATIONAL PARK - Zion (Dick), Bryce (Lynn)
BEST NATIONAL PARK SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE - Bryce and Zion
BEST TRUCK STOP - Iowa 80 Truck Stop on I-80 west of Davenport, food court with 6 different restaurants and one sit-down restaurant with seating for 300 people and parking spaces for 900 trucks and a lot of cars
BEST, MOST ELABORATE REST AREA - Summit Rest Area on I-80, 20 miles out from Cheyenne. Mammoth monument honoring Abraham Lincoln. The first cross continental auto highway was called the Lincoln Highway, now known as I-80. This rest area is the highest rest area on I-80, 8540 feet elevation.
BEST STATE FOR REST AREA - Iowa where the clean rest areas are typically 30-40 miles apart
BEST INTERSTATE HIGHWAY - Any state that has 80 mph speed limit, like UT and WY
BEST ATTRACTION IN PARK CITY, UT - Moose at Silver Lake, Utah Olympic Park
BEST ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS - Old Market in Omaha, NB and downtown Columbia, MO near the University of Missouri
BEST TRIP APP - iExit providing information on what gas stations with prices, restaurants, attractions at each interstate exit
BEST TRIP ACCESSORY - Hydroflask water bottle kept our water VERY cold and our Indel B refrigerator that looks like a console between two seats
Saw so many sites and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, old and new. Hope you enjoyed the journey as much as we did!
