We didn't really do anything in Christchurch. We drove around the city, you can still see the devastation left behind by the earthquake. There is a lot of construction and demolition work going on. It's sad really. We never gave the city a chance. We decided to stay in a campsite near the airport for convenience. We offloaded all the camping stuff we bought as we couldn't take those with us on the plane. The morning of our flight, we handed the hire car back. It felt weird having to be dependent on public transport again. Our car has been our mode of transport and our home for the past 5 weeks. It's sad to let it go! We got a good nights sleep, then the next morning, caught our Jetstar flight to Auckland.
