Settling In and Winding Down

Yountville, California, United States
tj here....We arrived at our hotel and were greeted by a welcome mimosa. A really tiny one but still appreciated. The hotel is very pretty, quaint actually, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We opted out of the bellman's pleas to help us with our luggage. Not the best move. Our room is on the second floor. There are no elevators. We pack a lot. After wrestling our bags upstairs, we decided unpacking could wait. Dinner was still 3 hours away and we needed a little nourishment and to destress after that LONG drive to Yountville. Deb, especially was feeling the hunger pangs after a smoothie for breakfast and Sunchips for lunch and an additional 3 hours being added to her day due to the time zone change. The hotel offers a complimentary tea time (pinky raised) which includes...well tea...and a nice assortment of pastries and finger sandwiches. After a quick snack and a GLASS of tea (you know us Southern girls prefer our tea on the cold side), we found a nice spot on one of the courtyards and enjoyed our first bottle of Napa Valley wine, complimentary of our wonderful hotel staff. Aaahhh...the relaxation begins....

P .S. I'm not getting much help from my guest writers!
__________

Mare here: The reason TJ has been the lone blog writer so far is because (1) she's the most computer literate of us girls and created this blog and (2) she doesn't sleep much and is up by herself at 4:30am writing away!
__________

Deb here: Tonja has really gotten the ball rolling with our travel blog. I think Mare and I realize now (who knew?) that she is quite the gifted wordsmith. This was a great idea and a perfect way to chronicle our 40 years of friendship celebration!
