After a night at our stunning Room at Li River Resort where the views over the Karsts on the River Li were to die for, we were taken into the countryside to see local villages and farms. We visited a traditional farm that I suspect is kept for tourists. Interesting that the lady there kept her coffin in the living room.
The afternoon was spent at pleasure in the town. Cute town and it was great to potter around looking at the shops. We stopped for something to eat and decided in the Pure Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant. We were greeted with an ipad that had all the pictures of the dishes available. Once we had picked our food we pressed a button and it was automatically ordered and arrived quickly and beautifully presented. What food! I can't see us eating Chinese food outside of the country again. On the way back I couldn't help but barter for a Erhu (Chinese two-stringed fiddle ) ??.
In the evening we were taken to the Liu San Jie Light Show. The waters of the Li-river and a dozen beautifully lit karst formations form a natural backdrop. The light show is a creation of Zhang Yi Mou, also director and choreographer of the impressive opening ceremony for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and famous Chinese movies. With over 600 locals, mainly from the Zhuang minority, including farmers, fishermen and young girls singing and performing simultaneously in a show that looks different each time as mist, rain and moonlight naturally alter the set of the stage. Stunning!
Day 2
We were met at our accommodation and driven to a bus station ready for our next destination.
