Leaving Karumba - Gulf Carpenteria (Outback at the Sea)

We had drive back through Normanton to link onto the Savanah Way which goes through to Burketown, (gravel road) along the way we stopped at one of the Burke & Wills monument and tree marking (a rough track in but interesting) .

Stopped and had lunch at Leichhardt Falls, a lovely place great little swimming holes – would have like to stay the night (realised at the end of day we should have). Continued on, push it to get to Adels Grove where we booked in but running out of daylight, we refueled at Burketown at 4.00pm and relized we still had 3hrs driving. On the road to Gregory Downs (very rough) William said he could not see the bikes on the trailer, when we stopped and we relised they had been dragging along the road (all that was left were handle bars, seats and twisted wheels), back of camper had tore away and rack bent down, we were absolutely devastated, but we were okay, packed what was left onto the camper and continued on. We passed Gregory Downs, where we saw so may vans camped on river bed – yep should have stayed the night there instead of pushing ourselves.

Rolled in at Adels Grove at 6.20pm (Dark) and setup our campsite luckily for us next to Maryann and Wayne Henry from Victoria who were parked next to us at Karumba, they provided some light for us to help with setting up, they stoked up a fire where we relaxed and talked about our day of traveling (it was good to finaly have a laugh).
