Borroloola, Northern Territory, Australia
Few spots of rain at early morning before packing up. Started travelling at 9.15am towards Hells Gate Roadhouse, back out onto the Savannah Way, towards Borroloola, with fingers crossed hoping roads open, as it was one of the tracks William and Wayne both wanted to drive. Fuelled up at Hells Gate Roadhouse – cash only. Crossed the NT border 52Km from Hells Gate Roadhouse. How lucky, just as approaching the Calver Road intersection passed and checked with the grader operator who informed us all river crossings (especially the Robinson River) into Borroloola were open. Yeah! Arrived at Borroloola at 4pm and camped at Borroloola Caravan Park.

Prepared a nibble platter with some haloumi cheese, which Maryann and Wayne had never tried . Wayne had gone in search of some beer, no luck as you need a visitors pass to purchase alcohol prior to 5.30pm (but it was $65/carton if had pass). Park Managers were able to assist with a purchase of box of 30 XXXX Gold for $55 (bargain). Still no coverage for internet or phones, except for Wayne. Able to call from Wayne’s phone Mum and Dad to see how he got on, not good news but he was in happy spirits and they were out at Wangi. Bit cold, unable to build a fire so decided early night plus wanted to head off early next morning. It was recommended to us to lock up our eskies as the locals often adventure out late of night.
