Day 71 – Denham, World Heritage Area WA

Denham, Western Australia, Australia
Jayde, Megan and Nic went down for an early beach walk to collect for further shells – car starting to be weighed down but has put together some interesting shell formations.

Left with very large orange balloon taking up most of back seat, as we said to Jayde do you want to take balloon or leave it – so she opted to bring balloon with her, lucky William didn't have to see via rear vision mirror . Saying another farewell to Manks Family before we meet up with them in Denham for Aristocrat 2 cruise on Monday 1 August.

Called into Carnarvon and had a ride on the Coffee Pot train out and back on the One Mile Jetty, having a meat pie, coffee along the way – sorry Jayde couldn’t find a nice café for your birthday brekkie along with long trip.

Left Carnarvon around 11.30am and along way booked into Shark Bay Caravan Park, ensuring we had accommodation for 4 nights

Called into Overlander Roadhouse and fuelled up whilst William and Jayde had some fresh battered barramundi, we then drove into the Shark Bay World Heritage Area.

On way in called into Hamelin Pool, Telegraph Station to see living microbes that build Stromatolites in the highly saline waters, similar to the earliest forms of life dating back 3000 million years. An interesting walk along the boardwalk viewing the various forms of Stromatolites .

On booking into Caravan Park checked in with an opportunity to pick our spot – very happy as quite a large area and booked into Azure Bistro down the road for a birthday tea for Jayde.

Setup camp for our four day stay, and then walked down to have tea for Jayde’s birthday, Jayde looking forward to having garlic prawns. William had Oysters for Entrée (best oysters ever had) and then Red Emperor with garlic prawns, Jayde had her garlic prawns which she so enjoyed, myself had Shark Bay whiting fish fillets with garlic sauce – yep know what you are thinking – camper trailer going to reek tonight – but one of the nicest meals we have had.

Had a lovely evening with Jayde and myself opting to go to bed early. Unfortunately during the night had a down pour of rain – I think only our third or fourth day of rain since we set out on our venture – not too bad for over 70 odd days of travelling.
