Fairbanks, Alaska, United States
Slept in from long flight yesterday, took a taxi to downtown Fairbank – Lunched at “Soapy Smiths” very authentic family history we enjoyed lovely food, quick service and icy cold beer with a commentary of owners family background of the place. Visited the Yukon Quest where you place your name down for the upcoming  1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race (Mush), meet a young girl outside with her two huskies Jade (12 years old and retired) Bo still working. Visited Morris Thompson Cultural Centre – needed a little more time (Interesting place with History about the Alaskan People)  but we had to meet our hotel shuttle driver Kirra by 2.30pm. When the shuttle turned up, picking up two other passengers Sonja and Paul from Florida (previously from South California) who were also joining our Trafalgar tour.
3pm meet our Tour Director Joel Lewis from Trafalgar who provided a brief run down on upcoming days, luggage tags. Return to cabin had a lovely call/video with Jayde and Zarli. Drinks at Chenas for a beer and Sangria before heading to Welcome Reception at 6.00pm meeting Jose and Maggie friends of Sonja and Paul (at this time didn’t realise we would become lovely friends). Headed back to Chena’s restaurant and tried King Crab Cake, Portobello (mushroom) fries and calamari – Yummo!!! We strolled back down to our cabin along the riverbank.
