The morning was planned, breakfast, pack bags and being picked up at Hotel by mini bus for our Alaska Air Dog Sledding on 4th of July Glacier with Jose, Maggie, Paul & Sonja. Once at depot were greeted by Cory & Alex were they help with our gear (to keep dry) boots, pants and jacket with choice of color, Jose & Maggie in Blue, Paul & Sonja in Red and us in Green. Then it was induction time, the do's and don'ts for helicopter, eg: don't touch doors (very thin), watch to put camera lens on glass (it will scratch), and approach the chopper from the front not the rear, now for loading with the weight of William and Paul they had be split each going on separate flights (Jose loved knowing that - we think he did a furphy on his weight), Deb got to ride with Sonja & Paul, and William with Maggie & Jose, we both got the front seat on the way up to the glacier with spectacular views of Seward and surrounds. Hopping off was greeted by Grayson & Aidan and 20 Alaskan Huskies, to our surprise found we were to guide our own sleds (one as passenger & one guiding and changing over half way), whilst waiting for William et al to land, Sonja & Pauls had their turn we were able to hold 4 day old Alaskan Husky Pups (8 in total) Deb got to name one Aussie.
To guide the sled was such a buzz, it was good the dogs knew where to go (you will have to watch our videos on the blog). This was an activity we were so glad we didn't miss! Worth the cost and were lucky to have had awesome weather.
Unfortunately didn't have time to walk down to the centre of town - Had lunch at Alaska Seafood Grill- Fish and Chips and Pitcher of beer.
Left Seward travelling back to Anchorage ending our Trafalgar 'Majestic Alaska' tour farewelling many friends firstly at airport (Terry, Jeanne, Casey, Kevin from Kentucky) (Deb Jersey, Pam and Michael Baltimore and Dick (Derek) Washington).
Next was our drop off at the Lakefront Anchorage and having a hard goodbye to some dear friends Jose and Maggie, Sonja and Paul so blessed to have met these two couples.
After checking in went downstairs sitting outside watching many a seaplane take off and landing. Whilst having tea at the restaurant one seaplane had crashed and flipped all Emergency services were on deck (found out next morning pilot and passengers all okay).
Walked down the street to purchase a bottle of red for evening at our room but unsuccessful as Alaskan Law if together, both had to show ID, I was the only one with ID, William didn't have his wallet was unable to purchase, even if I sent him outside and being alone was still unable to purchase as already seen me with William. Headed back to get ID and pumped into Jose, Maggie, Sonja and Paul who had walked around from their hotel to see us one more time! That is friendship!
