Stonehenge

After encountering sunshine and then rain for 15 minutes, we had very nice weather as we approached the 25 minute coffee break/rest stop at 9:15 . I tried a packaged sandwich again, and it was unappealing, so I threw it away. After passing many wheat, barley, and oat fields we arrived at Stonehenge at 11:20 a.m.. We had to park across the highway and walk through an underpass to reach the stones. In the last few years, they had to rope off the area, so no one can touch the stones or walk around in the circle. However, one did get very close to the site. An self guided audio tour gave seven interesting discussions about the making and legends of Stonehenge. After spending 40 minutes walking around the site, enjoying the view and the sun, I headed to the small souvenir shop and food stand. Once I got my postcard and magnet, I purchased a pizza slice (made on a 3” bread) for a late breakfast or early lunch. We left Stonehenge at 12:30 p.m. Dylan collected our guesses for the distance covered. I planned on turning in a guess of 3,468, but changed it to 3,768 at the last minute. According to Dylan the bus had traveled a total of 3522 miles. I came in 4th place. The top 3 winners received matte framed photos of Stonehenge at night.
