"Everybody got a cousin in Miamiiiii"

Austin, Texas, United States
Because we are using free air mile tickets, the times were less than perfect. Our flight from Austin left at 5:00 a.m. which meant we got up at 2:30 a.m. and headed to the airport at 3:30.
Check in was a little confusing as you had to use the kiosk to self check in and then check your baggage . The flight to Miami was smooth and without any problems

They called for our flight to Miami and we got on board only to have a two hour flight delay on the runway at Miami, but luckily we were able to use the AirBnB email/text and easily get a message to Johnny that we would be late. One of the issues was a maintenance issue that had to be repaired and the second problem was Cuba was having radar problems so once a plane was go to go had to get a place in line to fly over Cuban airspace! No problems except most of the snacks for sale were gone partially because of our delay. The landing at San Jose was something would not want to repeat, turbulence and slam down landing.

Collected our bags, bought wifi time, and then we took the recommended   orange colored official Airport Taxi and were to El Cacique in 5 minutes.   Room was cleaned and ready, wine had been left for us by a friend we had told about the place, and we unpacked and gladly took a shower in our private bath . By the time we went back downstairs Johnny had gone but we are always given a room key and a key to the entrance gate so we were good to go.

We walked to the right out of the door, were passed by joggers and bicyclists and walked on past friendly neighbors who responded with a smile when we said 'Buenos.'  Walked on around the corner past the Pulperia and one block to the next corner to the main boulevard to the Mexican food buffet and got food to go. There are other ethnic restarants including chinese further along the main street and there's even a casino in the area we are told. Brought the to go food back to eat it on what we call Johnny's upstairs 'flying saucer control room' enclosed deck, enjoyed the view of the surrounding mountains, and watched the planes take off and land through the trees in the park across the busy expressway.   Total elapsed time from our arrival and upstairs eating our food was probably about the same amount of time it would have taken us from the Airport on into a hostel in San Jose!

We even saw some colorful birds among the trees in front of us in the park.

Later we had fun visiting with Johnny, a traveler from New York and two Netherlands travelers, but after enjoying this visit much later than planned we finally put in the very helpful ear plugs and went to sleep.
