Puerto Jimenez, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica
some day pictures may be posted

Time to move on from Uvita down the coast to Puerto Jimenez! Got our final packing done and had breakfast at El Tucan and said our goodbyes to Betta and Tra . We had arranged for Sierpe Shuttle to pick us up at 8:30 and take us to Palmar Norte in time to catch the bus to Puerto Jimenez.    The shuttle was right on time and off we went.

Got to Palmar Norte at 9:15 and had to wait for about 10 minutes before the bus arrived. There were several buses that stop at this stop so make sure to read the sign on the front of the bus. The cost of the bus was 3650 colones each. The bus was pretty full but got seats and as we headed down the coast people were getting off and on the bus on a pretty regular basis.

Got to Puerto Jimenez at around 12:15 and got our things unloaded. For some reason, the bus driver unloaded us before he drove the bus into the bus terminal. Not sure what the logic was but we complied! Robert went and found us a taxi and off to Corcovado Beach Lodge we went.

Arrived there and checked in. Last year was the new owner's first year and they did not have their kitchen operational and so they let us use the kitchen and refrigerator . This year not an option but the kayaks are still ready for us to use.

The room we have is one with a waterfront view but has high ceilings and as a result was 91 when we first got there. The a/c is too small for the room and was not cooling much at all. When you check in, they have you agree to rules on a form, one of which is if you leave your a/c on when you are not in the room, they can charge you $30 a day for this!

We got ourselves settled in and went out to get some groceries, check in with Melissa our dentist and see what else we needed to do. Decided to leave the a/c running because it was still so hot in the room. We carry a solar blanket with us and put that over the west facing windows to cut down on heat coming into room.

Decided to get a bite to eat and went to the Marisqueria on the waterfront and shared a fish salad and two frozen fruit drinks . The fish was so very fresh and delicious tasting! Ran into Rolly, Mark of Cabinas Tropicales worker, and caught up on his news. Melissa glad to see us and we arranged a 9:00 a.m. appointment to get teeth cleaned and see if any other work needed to be done.

Then on to the grocery store. They had two styrofoam coolers which we bought along with easy to fix groceries and headed back to Corcovado Beach Lodge. When we got there we were reminded we had left the a/c on. Told Rose it was just too hot and we were trying to get the first cooling down done.

Dinner was at Il Giardino, our favorite place to eat in Puerto Jimenez. It is an Italian restaurant run by a couple, he from Italy and she is a local Costa Rican. They have four tables set up on the seawall across from the restaurant proper and we have our favorite table where you can watch the comings and goings of the locals, airplanes coming in and an awesome sunset with the parrots and macaws circling in for the evening. The food is nice as well and they have a nice wine pour. n

Daughter Iradia was back working and was glad to see us and Cecilia, one of the owners also came out and welcomed us back. We were glad to be back in this part of Costa Rica once again!
