Coffee in Bad Vellach and then Logistra Dolima Valley park and hike to waterfall
Another day to experience how small Slovenia is and the fact it is surrounded by many other countries.  Vlado’s plan for us this morning was to go have coffee in Austria and then see what we do next.  Stopped for a coffee at a small lake in Slovenia and had a cup of coffee and just enjoyed the scenery.  The road up into Austria was very steep and lots of curves in the road.  Vlado had bicycled this road in the past and it looked like it would be a very hard ride.  When we headed down into Bad Vellach stopped and picked up a hitchhiker and saw a father and son coming down the road.  All of them were refugees from the wars in the Middle East.  Evidently Austria had accepted many refugees.  Found a coffee shop and had a nice coffee in their garden and watched the comings and goings of the locals to the coffee shop.
As we left the village, saw a place to hike where there were signs warning you of bears in the area.  Did not see any.  Took another steep road back to Slovenia through an area that had been burned by the Germans in World War II.  Stopped at a place that turned out to be one of the “tourist farms” and had ourselves a lunch of schnapps, wine, bread, cheese and salami.  The bread was delicious and as we left, the lady gave us the rest of the loaf.
Drove to the Logistra Dolima Valley which is another major tourist attraction in Slovenia.  One interesting thing we saw were cows that had been imported from Scotland.  They looked somewhat like longhorns except had this very shaggy fur.  Hiked up the hill to a waterfall that was a very nice hike.
On the drive back past through fields and fields of hops.  Evidently the Czech Republic and Slovenia are the best places to find good hops.  Stopped and had diner at a place out on the major highway that was quite good.  Back to their house to visit with Neli and say our goodbyes.
