Decided to take the historic train from Bled Jezerro to Most Na Soci. This train route was built in the early 20th century by Archduke Franz Ferdinand and was to run from Bled Jezerro to Nova Gorica, Slovenia and on to Trieste Italy. We did the part from Bled Jezerro to Most Na Soci and after our stay in Most Na Soci took the train to Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The train is a very amazing journey through 42 tunnels and crosses 168 bridges and viaducts.
We got to the train station early to make sure we would be able to get on the train since it is only four cars long. Not to worry, there was plenty of room! When the train is arriving, the station master comes out and puts on his railway cap and waves a flag to signal people are getting off the train and then signals again when it is time for the train to move on.
The scenery was quite beautiful passing through several old villages, through the six mile tunnel and over many of the old bridges. The bridges are beautiful arched bridges that are better seen from the ground but you were able to catch a glimpse of some of them as we went across.
Stopped in some small villages but there were not many people getting on or off.
Got to Most Na Soci and Vasja was there to pick us up and give us a ride to our place. Dropped off our luggage and then he gave us a short tour of the town. Went to the Mercator and checked out the food selection. One thing we noticed in the smaller towns is the fruit and veggie selection is pretty much what is in season. One nice thing for us was that apricots were in season and you could get a dozen for less than a dollar!
The place we are staying is evidently the old bus station that has been converted into an AirBnB and was quite nice. Had plenty of space, nice closets and nice kitchen and use of a washer and clothes drying rack! Our front door does open right out on the street and we learned you do keep the door locked because people were not sure what it opened up to and we did have some people that opened the door. We were also next to the bar that was run by Yanez family. Looks like we will have plenty of opportunities for adventure while we are here.
