Another train journey to Fort Kochin, Kerala

Kochi, Kerala, India
So we managed to get a last min quota train ticket to take us down to Kerala from Goa – its still indian holidays so train booking is a nightmare. We treated ourselves to a taxi to the train station it was 32km away and the thought of catching 2 buses in the heat was a nightmare.

So it was our 2nd train in india, sleeper class again, costing £5 each for a 15 hour journey. Train was delayed 2 hours but we got on found our beds no prob, train this time had normal amount of people in it not sitting in the aisles and toilets like the last train, we had dinner, egg biriani tasted good (we are going veggie for india so far so good no delhi belly), and once again settled down on our bed n fell asleep – train was due in at 10am but we figured it will be late since we started late – we woke up n Marc jumped down from his bunk to go to loo and look for the Chai man (tea) as we were ready for a cuppa and our biscuts for breakky but lo and behold it was the station before we were due to get off, the train had made up time and 5 sleepy minutes later the bags were on our back and we were standing on the platform dazed n confused and gutted we never had our tea and biscuits!!

We were heading over to Fort Kochin, Kochin is made up of islands so we went to get a tut tut to the ferry – some guy came up and said we had to go by bridge today as the ferry was closed due to the heavy rain !!!!!! Sorry mate we might not have had our chai n biscuits and still waking up but serioulsy a bit of rain is not gonna stop a ferry ur not scamming us !! Got a prepaid official tut tut and our ferry no problem – picked the street with most hostels in the Lonely Planet and another tut tut later we were in Princes Street of all places looking for a room. Marc the room hunter was off while I stood with the bags – now a true professional room hunter /haggler he was back 5 mins later with a nice room with a window (trust me that's a bonus in most places) and finally we get to drop the bags and dive in a lovely cold shower. The humidity is unreal its sweaty sweaty stuff!
