Have been in Udaipur for 4 days, it got off to a bad start we got to a hotel agreed a price unpacked then the guy was changing the price so we said we were leaving so packed up and left again. Some young guy carried my small bag upstairs and when I got to next hotel my camera was missing from the bag – I cant say for defo it was him but I had it in there all night as my pillow on the train ;-(( so between loosing the camera and the hotel guy being a total idot things didn't get off to the best start. Went to the Police yest to get a report for my insurance but I had to write it myself and all it has is a stamp on it no headed paper nothing they were useless – so have to wait and see if the travel insurance will pay out. Thankfully Hong Kong is only a week away to get a nice new one hehe!!

A few days in and and we have explored this place and its hilly lots of steep small hills and all the restaurants are rooftop which means a climb of 5 or 6 floors of the steepest stairs we are so unfit . Its out of season here and one of the quietest places we have been to in India so far which is a nice relief, it is famous for two palaces built out on the lake which were used in the filming of the James Bond Octopussy movie. The lake is lovely and the view from our hotel is great looking out over the lake and the mountains.

We treated ourselves to dinner in a fancy restaurant it was delicious although expensive by our budget but it was definaltely long overdue. Aside from that we have just wandered around exploring, went to the palace here which was nice and generally chilled out.

Sat by the lake yest to watch sunset and saw this tree with what I though were loads of birds in, turns out they were bats – absolutely hundreds of them hanging in the trees (see pics) and they were massive !!!

Udaipur has been nice to get some peace from the relentless hassle and noise of india got one week left in Jodhpur, the blue city and a night in Mumbai before we fly out. Cant believe how fast time has gone!
