Siem Reap, Cambodia
The bus arrived on time but wow parts of the roads were just dirt road with noting but flooded countryisde at each side pretty mental – mainly it was all fine though and we got a tut tut to take us into Siem Reap where Marc hunted us down a room it was a great wee place.

Its much more touristy here than Phnom Penh there is a "bar street" that is just packed with tourists, we went for a wander then arranged a tut tut driver to take us to Angkor Wat that evening - if you buy your ticket at 4 .45pm it is valid for that evening to watch sunset and then all the next day - we only wanted a one day ticket but you can get a 3 day one too.

So we headed off for sunset, trekked up a big hill with loads of others only to have no sunset !! The view was lovely though so it was all good - headed back for some food and an early night we are to be picked up at 5am to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat.

Day 2
So dragged ourselves from bed at 5am it was still pitch black and off we went with our lovely wee tut tut driver. We get there and watch the sunrise with loads of other people - it was pretty cool but we got eaten alive by mosquito's.

We spend the rest of the morning going around the various temples - they are really cool shaped rocks and many have faces carved into them and some super huge trees with mad roots taking over the buildings, parts of the film Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie was also filmed here.

So we had a one day ticket but we somehow managed to be done by 10am - we seem to be super fast sightseers haha - how on earthy you can spend 3 days wandering round these is beyond me - dont get me wrong they were cool and it was a great day out but it was getting hot and after 5 hours we had seen it all.

So it was an easy job for the tut tut guy we had paid him for the day but to be fair he was suggesting if we wanted to do other things but we happy to head back for a nap - so nice to have lovely locals and not just happy to get you home and take your money all in all a good day.

Costs
One day ticket for Angkor - £12.50 each
Hire of tut tut for evening for sunset and then one full day driving around Angkor - £10
Cost of double ensuite room with free wifi - £7.50 per night

Great photos! Was it easy to find a driver to hire for all day?
