Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia
Ok some major backlog of blogs to write I am currently in Santiago now so I will do my best to catch up with all of Australia - which also it seems we were a bit lazy with taking photos - we have got lazy with the camera in some places - sorry!

So this was it today we were hitting the road and leaving Cairns to head to Mission beach for a bit of sun bathing . We ended up sleeping on the Esplanade again last night alongside a couple of other campervans - your not supposed to park up there but we were up early doors and off so we got away with it.

The sun was shining and the drive done was beautiful the countryside was lovely big mountains and very green countryside. It was good to drive again its been ages but best of all we just got up and drove we didnt have to wait for any tour bus or pack our bags we just got up and went - the sense of freedom is great after all these months of packing unpacking the bag and shitty bus journeys hehe. We stopped at some wee house selling fresh home made scones and we parked up and cooked up a wee cuppa tea to go with them - we are like some wee old couple on their holidays but we are loving it hehe

We got there and the place is a tiny lovely little town famous for its lovely beach, we decided to stay in a caravan park tonight to get a shower and we found one that was only £13 for the night for an unpowered site (our Jucy van charges itself so long as you drive an hour a day it keeps the fridge and lights n stuff going so we dont need a powered camp space) she gave us a great spot almost on the beach and a perfect view out to the sea - delighted we got our wee chairs out n parked our backsides to sit and chill it was great until the wind started picking up a bit and it got a bit chilly .

Well over the next few hours in came the rain and the wind and the thunder and lightening :-((

We had already popped "the penthouse" as it opens into a bed and seems a bit more spacious - we got up in the rain and soon realised it was far too windy to be up there so in the freezing pouring rain and wind we climbed down and had to make up the bed downstairs - Marc nearly got whipped by a flying branch of palm tree while climbing down. We lay in the van giggling our heads off at the effort we just put in and wondering if the van was going to blow over with the penthouse open but it was fine.

We woke in the morning expecting it to have gone but it was still stormy and rainy - so much for lazing on the beach so we decided to push on and drive to Townsville.

Cairns to Mission beach is 140 Km - drive time 2 hours
