Day 4 St Gheorghe, Romania

Saturday, August 23, 2014
Sulina, Constanța County, Romania
Our first stop is St Gheorghe, which is a typical rural town on the river. Unpaved roads and horse driven carts are a common sight. The houses are small but sturdy and a lot of them have beautiful gardens full of zinnias, canna lillies, grape vines and fruit trees. As we walk around the main part of town we notice life is simple here. Women are hanging laundry out to dry and the men are carting around everything from propane tanks to fresh vegetables for the day. As we are walking by the local supermarket Roxanne abruptly stops. She has the glow of a child who has just gotten their first new bike. "Are you OK?", I ask. "Don't move", she says "I have an internet connection!" Ah the simple things that make us happy when we're traveling.
We stroll a little more around town and then it it time to get back to the ship.
After a long trip on the river tomorrow our next stop will be Rousse.
So long for now.

Once again you are proving that this writing skill is as impressive as ever. I read three entries this morning, and feel like I am there with you. I must look into this river cruise from Bucharest. while we had been thinking of visiting Poland next spring, I had never thought of Bucharest or Romania. Be prepared to give out the details as Julianna asked for.

We know that moment of excitement all too well when there's a workable WiFi signal.

Keep these nuggets coming for us!
